Test: Intel X25-V 40GB (SSDSA2M040G2GC) (SSD)

  by Arnt Kugler (chip.de) - Apr 2010

Günstiger Preis ; Schnelles Lesen ; Sehr kurze Zugriffszeiten

Wer alle Vorteile einer SSD nutzen will, muss weiterhin...

Intel X25-V SSD mit 40 GByte

  by Marc Kaiser (hartware.de) - Apr 2010

Intel X25-V 40GB

  by Robin Liebel (awardfabrik.de)

Intel X25-V review

  by Madana Prathap, (pcadvisor.co.uk) - Okt 2010

pcadvisor.co.uk

The term "affordable SSD" would describe the Intel X25-V 40GB solid state drive well. Making high performance available around the £80-£90 mark, this could well be the tipping point that gets everyone participating in the Solid State Drive revolution.

The performance numbers seen above are good for a solid state drive positioned in the budget space. At a price of £89 the price-per-GB ratio may not be the lowest among SSDs, but the Intel X25-V does happen to be one of the lowest priced SSD drives...

Intel X25-V SSD 40GB review

  by (expertreviews.co.uk) - Sep 2010

expertreviews.co.uk

Intel is better known for its processors than its solid state disks, but the 40GB X25-V is actually the latest in a long line of SSDs from the processor giant. At just £90, it looks cheap but it actually has a high cost per gigabyte of £2.25.

Intel's bargain priced SSD is a false economy. Spend a little more and get a lot more elsewhere.

Can Intel's second generation SSD steal the performance crown?

Proven controller technology ; Excellent 4k random erformance

Intel X25-V 40GB SSD

  by Madana Prathap (pcworld.in) - Okt 2010

Being priced low, this solid state drive had to compromise on something, yet the performance and capacity are still acceptable.

Relatively economical pricing ; Faster than HDDs

Drive capacity is just about enough for a boot drive

The term "affordable SSD" would describe the X25-V 40GB drive well. Making high performance available around the Rs. 5k mark, this could well be the tipping point that gets everyone participating in the Solid State Drive revolution.

Intel X25-V 40 GB

  by Vincent Lheur (digitalversus.com) - Jul 2010

digitalversus.com

The X25-M, a standard 2.5 inch SSD, is sold with a mount for a 3.5 inch bay. This is a very practical accessory when you want to install it in a casing with no 2.5 inch bay... and many fall into this category.

Excellent read performance ; Excellent write performance for small files ; Comes with a 3.5 inch mount for HDD bays

Mediocre write performance on large files ; Only available in 40 GB capacity

The X25-V is quite simply one of the best entry level SSDs. It represents an excellent solution to boost a sluggish laptop without costing the earth. The 40 GB capacity would be the only argument against it for this usage.

Award: MUST HAVE

Almost everyone reading this review is already aware of the benefits that a Solid State Drive (SSD) drive can bring to the table. Not only are boot times dramatically lowered, but overall operating system performance is massively improved. Being...

Reliable

  by Cisco (newegg.com) - Sep 2011

newegg.com

It started out in my Lenovo S10-3 and I eventually moved it to my Lenovo X120e. I purchased this SSD to protect myself from mechanical failures,. Most of my past HDDs in laptops have ended dying and clicking.

Intel's SSD has been reliable and worked great with both Windows 7, Ubuntu 10.04 and Kubuntu 11.04 (not that there's a difference). There was a noticeable improvement in boot time after first switching. Boot times remain snappy

I didn't really notice a difference after I actually got into the OS. Loading up applications seemed to take about the same time in comparison to my desktop without an SSD ; Available space is rather small, but that's typical for SSDs ; df -h ;...

I am using this as the main drive using OSX. It is plenty to hold the OS+ main applications. Moved the home folders and all content to larger rotating drives. Runs quite boots fast.

Fast, Silent, Cool. Small(physically)

Pricey, Small(capacity)-But you get what you pay for

for the price this is probably one of the worst SSd drives in terms of performance you can get.

windows experience data disk transfer rating went from 5.3 to 7.0

Okay so i bought this at best buy using the price match for 69.99+ tax. I told myself it was a great deal for an SSD and was real excited to reformat and compare speeds to my WD green 640gb platter drive. The ssd was a little bit faster but i was so...

None to shabby!

  by HrlmUndrWrld (newegg.com) - Jan 2011

All and all this is a great drive to launch app's from and if you are like me and stream almost everything (head in the "cloud') it would actually suffice as a standalone drive. I am only utilizing 18GB out of the formatted 37.5 GB for Win7(U) and 3rd...

I have owned several SSD's including this one and the larger faster Intel X25 G2 160GB, a Kingston V Series, an OWC Sandforce drive and two of these. While not as fast as the 160GB Intel and/or the OWC Mercury Extreme Pro it easily bested the Kingston...

The only caveat I have is it doesn't seem to play well with Windows 7's sleep mode, if you allow your computer to sleep for extended periods it freezes forcing a reboot to gain access to the desktop again why it does this I dunno

Follow Up Review

  by Technofox (newegg.com) - Jan 2011

Ok, for the long list of tweaks to reduce the wear on the drive I did the following in Windows 7: 1. Move the following to a spindle drive: - Event log files (do this within event viewer, not by editing as MS suggests, because it does not work) - Page...

I finally decided to install Windows 7 Ultimate on my Intel x25 and after all of the tweaks and encrypting with bitlocker, this thing flies. I was very skeptical about SSD as boot drives (due to reliability concerns), as you can tell by my previous...

Cons, umm... like none, notta, nothing, and plain old nope

Desktop mounting bracket a plus

  by N/A (newegg.com) - Dez 2010

newegg.com

The drive is plastic and a bit cheap looking. Earlier generation drives, such as the Samsung and Corsair drives, were a brushed aluminium. Vendors have obviously figured out a way to cut corners to bring the price down. While appreciated, I'd rather...

Great packaging and the inclusion of a desktop mounting bracket is a big plus. The bracket serves as a heatsink and allows for air to flow around the device. Be sure to download the Intel SSD toolkit software. This is a nice touch as well and does...

This is a slow drive for an SSD but then again it is marketed to the "value" segment. I use it to store virtual machine drives and not as my main drive. For that I am using a RevoDrive. These are so cheap though that it's easy to scale your storage as...
