Verizon Wireless MiFi 2200 Intelligent Mobile Hotspot

  by (cnet.com) - Jun 2009

cnet.com

The Verizon Wireless MiFi 2200 Intelligent Mobile Hotspot offers a great mobile broadband solution for individuals or a small group of people. It's tiny, easy to use, and offers instant Internet access virtually anywhere in the U.S

The Verizon Wireless MiFi 2200 Intelligent Mobile Hotspot supports up to five Wi-Fi devices only at a time and its wireless LAN throughput speed and range could be faster. It comes with expensive and limited data plans

If you can afford the required service plans and keep within the required data limits, the Verizon Wireless MiFi 2200 Intelligent Mobile Hotspot is an excellent product for mobile Internet access.

Depending on where you live and work, it can seem like theInternet is everywhere. But sadly, a good Wi-Fi signal can be lackingwhen you need it most--and the days of open home–Wi-Fi networks aremostly gone, as even your mom has figured out how to lock...

Ultraportable. Good battery life. Share your connection with multiple devices. Flexible rate plans for both heavy and light users

3G network speeds can vary widely. Initial tethered setup is a bit unclear. Can't charge battery and transmit Wi-Fi simultaneously

Carrying around your own Internet connection is priceless--even if network congestion occasionally tarnishes the experience.

The tower switching issue relates to having a very weak (no bars) that is 3G and a strong signal with 2G. This has been an issue with every device I've ever had (GSM, PCS, etc). It would seem the internal software still can't learn that a strong 2G...

Compact design and portability. Handles multiple computers

Has trouble handling tower conflicts when not actually mobile (moving). Very short battery life (even Verizon admits this is an issue)

Try to find another broadband!"

Can't think of any

We live in the country, so it's almost as slow as dial up. 5 Gigabytes may seem like a lot, but you can't watch youtubes or you'll go over. When you travel, there's major dead zones, so it's useless a lot of the time. Wish we hadn't gotten it

"No such "free trial" like they try to sell"

  by countofashfield (cnet.com) - Mai 2010

the device works but it matters little when it is such a ripoff

you get charged big time for the "free trial". My experience; 6 hrs use(virtually no videos) and I ran out of 250MB, charge: $33.60. I returned it within two days of the three day free trial, doesn't matter. Ripoff

Faster than I thought it would be and it connected with both my laptop and itouch with no problem. Even though the data plan is a little high, it is cheaper than other options that I had checked into

Not sure how long it will take to use up 5g

"Excellent for MOST users in rural areas!"

I would suggest the MiFi for anyone who trave...

Excellent for an area where DSL or cable is not available. Satellite systems suck (we tried both major ones). This is fantastic, but DO keep track of your usage through the month til you get used to the limit. We have three computers hooked to ours

1st month using MiFi we were hit with an exhorbitant bill for MB I am certain we did not use. Our bill was adjusted, but the same thing happened the next month. It took 3 months for "someone" to figure out the problem & start billing us correctly

I have 2 lap tops and the Wii running internet from this 1 device, we chose to cancel our satelite to save money so we watch several tv shows through the computer on the TV vis HDMI, the mifi connection gives us no problems streaming this or music....
