For the past few years, we've been hearing about the year of the Linux desktop. In other words, a workable graphical-interface Linux, matured sufficie...

Easier to use with a great new look

Can be tedious working through issues if you are not familiar with Ubuntu

Ubuntu is more workable than ever with an attractive new look, less grimy looking than the all-brown of yore. But Ubuntu 10.04 LTS Lucid Lynx is still not everyman's OS, as problems will inevitably arise that require tech support from a Linux-speaking...

Ubuntu 10.04 LTS Lucid Lynx is the latest Linux operating system from Canonical, aimed at consumers. It's free, but is it sufficiently consumer friendly that you should switch from Windows?

Ubuntu 10.04 ("Lucid Lynx")

  by Matthew Murray (pcmag.com) - Apr 2010

One of the long-standing problems with Linux is that even the varieties that aim for accessibility often look like something ordinary people won't want to use. This has been true of even the most populist free flavor—and certainly the one with the...

Ubuntu One music store is limited compared to Apple and Microsoft offerings. Finding and choosing new software may intimidate less-experienced users

With Ubuntu 10.04, Canonical is making a major play to get the masses interested in one of the best-known and easiest-to-use Linux distros. Some parts of it will still be too complicated and imposing for casual users, but this is the first Ubuntu...

Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx review

  by Steven J. Vaughan-Nichols (techworld.com) - Mai 2010

Canonical has high hopes for its latest release: Ubuntu 10.04 LTS (Long Term Support). Also known as Lucid Lynx, this new version is the one that, from many indications, the company hopes will take Ubuntu from being a fan favourite to a commercial...

In action, I found Ubuntu 10.04 to be fast and snappy. Windows 7 marches along at a decent clip on my test systems, but Ubuntu was quite zippy on the same hardware. Indeed, even as a virtualised operating system, it felt more spritely than Windows....

Ubuntu 9.10 - Das bessere Windows

  by Feldneger (chip.de) - Dez 2009
