Trendnet TEW-673GRU

  by Dong Ngo (cnet.com) - Jun 2010

cnet.com

With two USB ports, an LCD, support for simultaneous dual-band Gigabit Ethernet, and a price of around $150, the TEW-673GRU is Trendnet's attempt to get into the high-end wireless routers market. For the most part, the router impressed us, especially...

The Trendnet TEW-673GRU supports true dual-band and has consistently high throughput speed at close range. It offers signal stability and comes with a well-organized, responsive Web interface. It also has two USB ports that support external hard drives...

The Trendnet TEW-673GRU range 2.4Ghz throughput speeds could be better. Its USB ports require software installed on a computer to work and can only work with one computer at a time. The router lacks support for guest networking

The Trendnet TEW-673GRU is a fast and full featured high-end wireless router, but its USB-related features might fall short of your expectations.

Trendnet TEW-673GRU 300Mbps Concurrent Dual Band Wireless N Gigabit Router

  by blueonblack (thebestcasescenario.com) - Mai 2011

thebestcasescenario.com

Since I've been with TBCS I've had a lot of firsts, and covered a lot of new territory, both in modding and in technology in general. The most recent example was my much-delayed entry into the land of always-on broadband Internet. As always, it wasn't...

Trendnet TEW-673GRU Router Review

  by Michael Brown (maximumpc.com) - Sep 2010

maximumpc.com

We thought the 1.5x1.25-inch LCD on Trendnet's TEW-673GRU was pretty cool at first. It informs you of the router's status, provides real-time performance numbers, displays the time and date, and more. But our enthusiasm wilted when the display became...

Excellent TCP throughput in most locations; dual USB ports; relatively strong NAS performance

Flakey display; must install client utility to use USB ports; no guest network; no DLNA-compliant server

But it’s not all hot fudge and cherries with this sundae. You need to install a utility on each client PC in order to grant access to the attached storage device, for instance, and only one client can utilize those ports at a time. And while the...

TRENDnet TEW-673GRU Dual Band 300Mbps Wireless Router

  by Sean Kalinich (tweaktown.com) - Jun 2010

Is your home wireless network getting cluttered with too much data? TRENDnet has a possible answer with their dual band Wireless N router.

I want to preface this conclusion with this. When I first received the TEW-673GRU I had heard there were issues with it running with both bands enabled. I had heard it had limited range and that the speed on it was not good. When I ran into the...

Not long ago, we reviewed Trendnet's 300Mbps Concurrent Dual Band Wireless N Router TEW-671BR (see page 39 of the November 2009 issue) and found that it offered plenty of practical features. This month, we took a look at the TEW-671BR's...

In order to test the TEW-673GRU’s throughput, we used NetStatLive to monitor transfer speeds while we moved a 500MB file from our notebook, using Trendnet’s TEW-664UB Dual Band Wireless N USB adapter, to our PC. The speeds for the 2.4GHz and 5GHz...

  by (3dnews.ru) - Jan 2011

3dnews.ru

Mosel Vitelic.

Annoying configuration

  by Volad (newegg.com) - Feb 2012

newegg.com

Simultaneous dual band ; It works

This router sucks to configure. Every time you make a single change it forces you to restart the router. These restarts last from 40 sec to almost 2 min. For example: I have 4 security cameras so I need to forward 4 ports to access them I also wanted...

Fast Wireless Transfers!!!

  by The Weatherman (newegg.com) - Feb 2012

This will the second router that I have ever owned! My old router was a Microsoft base station. I wish Microsoft made new routers, but they don't. The Microsoft router still worked just fine, but I decided that after seeing this Trendnet router on...

This has been a great router for me so far! I've had no issues with this router, and I love that were some of the settings are similar to my 12 year old router. I believe that this might be my replacement router brand for a long time. WPS feature is...

Makes a nice 1Gig Switch

  by Terri (newegg.com) - Feb 2012

newegg.com

I don't want to pay shipping to return this so I decided to re-connect my trendnet 639 wireless router which worked flawlessly and use this one as a print server and extra Gigabyte switch. As long as the other router connects to the WAN and serves as a...

Print server works really well

Drops WAN connectivity often. Upgrading firmware did not help. Opened problem ticket with Trendnet and got stock answers. I using a wired connection and they kept telling me to check various wireless settings. Documentation on set up is rudimentary and...

Returning mine :)

  by FoRM (newegg.com) - Feb 2012

newegg.com

Don't be fooled by the low price. You're getting what you're paying for. If you need a stable router with good speeds, check out a different brand.

It powered on and has two antennas

Everything else. The router is extremely unstable and has disconnects even after upgrading the firmware. I called Tech Support and they went through some basic troubleshooting with me (nothing that I hadn't tried before) before they reached the...

Disappointed

  by Mattb4rd (newegg.com) - Jan 2012

It seemed to work fine for a week or so and the started handing out conflicting IP addresses and would spontaneously just stop working. Conflicted with my DSL modem several times. Switched back to one of my DD-WRT powered linksys routers and my network...

Looks cool, LCD screen, Dual Band

So unstable that it's unusable. User interface is poor

Good third party firmware compatible router

  by CiRiS (newegg.com) - Jan 2012

newegg.com

Never used or tested stock firmware, as I flashed to third party firmware right away. I was able to flash this router using OpenWRT and DD-WRT. Currently my gateway is a WNDR3700v1 using OpenWRT since the TrendNet doesnt perform up to the level as my...

Simultaneous dual band, removable antennas, Gigabit Ethernet, 2 usb ports, good range, good throughput

LCD is cumbersome on stock firmware, and useless with third party firmware. I would've liked if standard status leds were implemented in the design. Not really a con, but it uses the Atheros chipset. Atheros chipsets with ddwrt isnt the best match but...

This Product is Garbage

  by N/A (newegg.com) - Jan 2012

newegg.com

Trendnet's return policy is garbage. You can't really go long periods of time waiting on an RMA. They don't have an option to have a replacement shipped to you, where you then return your defective product in the original packaging. That means you have...

The router was really on sale and seemed like a reasonable risk

This router constantly resets, needs to have multicasting disabled to forward any ports (and multicasting is enabled by default), and the tech support is godawful. They give stock answers and never respond to your question if you ask anything technical...

SLOW LAN performance

  by Line6 (newegg.com) - Jan 2012

newegg.com

I bought this to replace my old WRT54G router (it is over 7 years old now). Copying files locally on the LAN from PC to PC takes almost twice as long as with my old router. To restate: Local files copies take TWICE AS LONG as they did on a 7 year old...

Easy to setup via the Trendnet web based admin GUI

SLOW LAN performance, LCD screen is worthless

  by Lparsoni (newegg.com) - Jan 2012

DD-WRT a must on this router see thread on DD WRT website. Very fast router with a D Link 825 clone chipset.

Solid router, good speeds. What I really got sick of was the LCD, why they did this I do not know. Hello Trendnet, most normal people will use the GUI-OK ; What I did was take it apart and pull the connector ribbon on the LCD screen. Problem solved

TRENDnet TEW-673GRU N600 Concurrent Dual Band Gigabit Wireless Router, IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n, with USB Storage & Printer Sharing

  by N/A (newegg.com) - Jan 2012

newegg.com

I never even bothered using the router with the stock firmware because the dd-wrt firmware is an absolute must for me. I will not purchase a router unless it has full dd-wrt support, which this one does.

DD-WRT Compatible ; 680mhz cpu ; 2x External Antennas ; 4x Gigabit LAN

There are no status lights on the front, only the overly bright blue LED. Not that it really matters, unless you're trying to trouble shoot a network issue. Not worth losing an egg
