I opened it, connected it, and it was detected as a a removable storage device immediately by my Windows 7 system. Highly recommend this one if you are looking for 500GB at an excellant.

Plug-n-play, no annoying sync software, quiet, and very fast. Has it's own USB cable. No external power needed. Does exactly what I neded - share date between 2 computers with a manual A/B switch

Did not come with a case like the last Toshiba Ex-Drive I got. If you do not like finger prints you will be wiping this one a lot. Only reads 465GB even after Reformatting, I could understand 10-20GB off but 35GB

I've ordered this hard disk to have more space for saving and rendering videos and for playing video games. I had the chance to try the previous version (5400 RPM) as I played "Dirt 3" and you really can tell the difference between the 5400 RPM version...
