Tivoli Audio Model One (maple/green) Reviews

  by Steve Guttenberg (cnet.com) - Dez 2004

cnet.com

High-end tabletop radio ; rich sound ; excellent AM and FM reception ; auxiliary line-in (doubles as an iPod speaker) and line-out

Mono-only sound ; no clock or alarm function

It may not be portable like the PAL, but Tivoli's original table radio delivers a full, rich sound.

Poor quality and horrible customer service"

Good sound (when it works)

Radio does not have good connection to power supply. Ron at Tivoli's customer service department was completely unhelpful (and rude). Company charges $75 to fix a $0.50 part (that was defective in the first place)

I got one of these a couple of years back and it is one of the most useful gifts I have ever received. It has been used as a radio, computer speaker and is now the base for my motorola droid dock. Who knows what job it will have next

FM tuner is very sensitive and difficult to use in areas with many radio stations (I am in DC) I appreciate the tuner much more when I am far from the city

Nice look, very good audio, full sound

Decent sound from a small form factor. Fine for listening to the news or background music in a small room

Tuner section is of poor design or manufacture, hard to know which. Lower end of the FM scale becomes unusable in a year or so

There is no reason not to expect well made electronics to work reliably for ten to fifteen years, (or more). Anything less is part of the "throw away" mentality that is bringing the planet to its knees. My first Model One developed terrible scratching...

If this ever broke (which I doubt it ever will) I will get a new one immediately. It is built like a tank and very retro cool. It oozes quality.

I tried the Tivoli Model One in Piano/Silver (what a beautiful radio) and since most of the reviews were positive, decided to try one. Very disappointed in performance of the AM side. Very low audio and sensitivity is awful. Takes a long wire antenna...
