Works fine, used for JBOD

  by BeemerBiker (newegg.com) - Jan 2011

If I had read the review that indicated the SiL3124 chipset only worked with a 5.0 volt PCI/PCI-X slot, I would not have bought this card. The board is working fine in a 3.3 volt, 133Mhz slot (according to tyan users manual) so I am unsure exactly what...

Worked fine under Windows 7 on a Tyan s2895 motherboard that had defective SATA controllers. I put this into a 3.3v PCI-X slot that was rated at 133Mhz. The s2895 has three PCI-X only one is 133Mhz and all are 3.3 volt according to the "slot diagram"...

Would have been nice if the external ports could be jumpered so that one could be used internally. There was a 4 internal sata version of this card but it is no longer offered at newegg

Good Deal

  by N/A (newegg.com) - Sep 2010

My original concern was if this card had the port multiplier on the card, it does. After emailing the manufacturer about this, I placed my order.

Received the card as promised ( 4 business days). Good price. Installed card on my Asrock A790GXH/128M motherboard with Win7 Enterprise 64 bit running. After installing the drivers through the device manager. Went to Silicon Image web site and...

As stated in other reviews for the docking station, the drives are warm. I let them run overnight and no problems yet

DOA...Twice...

  by Tommyboy (newegg.com) - Aug 2010

I checked both cards in multiple machines in 7 total slots...the mobo's wouldn't even recognize anything was in the slot in the BIOS. One DOA from time to time is expected, but twice in a row...Epic fail.

I got to get that "Hey, something cool is coming in the mail" feeling.......twice

Perfect for G4/G5

  by disconap (newegg.com) - Mai 2010

newegg.com

I've had this in both my PCI G4 and my PCI-X G5. Runs well in both (needed to install the SIL drivers first) under Leopard. Currently running an internal and external RAID0 with zero problems and no noticeable overhead. Hurts me a little inside to give...

works well for me

  by N/A (newegg.com) - Mai 2010

some of the mounting plates on pci/e cards I've installed recently have had mounting holes slightly too small to fit in my Dell tool-less case. The studs in the case are wider than a typical mounting screw, and apparently just too fat to fit in the...

this card did what I needed it to do - be port multiplier compatible. No problems so far, and the internal and external ports are convenient for my internal removable hd dock and external 8 drive hd enclosure with port multipliers

Best inexpensive option for PCI or PCI-X Port multiplier capability

  by AF Geek (newegg.com) - Jan 2010

newegg.com

After searching with no success for a half-height, 2 internal SATA and 2 eSATA port, PCI 2.3 compatible, port multiplier capable card (very detailed need due to my specific build), I did some further research and found PCI-X cards are backward...

Sil3124 port multiplier capable chipset. Backward compatible with PCI 2.3 (runs at 66 Mhz). Has two eSATA ports and two internal SATA ports ; this is hard to find in a PCI compatible card. Chipset is also capable of hot swapping drives from both the...

Silicon Image drivers do not integrate with Windows Safely Remove Hardware tray application for hot swapping. This is overcome by using the free HotSwap 5.0 tool from here: http://mt-naka.com/hotswap/index_enu.htm . This tool ends up being a second...

Been running in my Dual 2.0gHz G5 for about a year now with no problems. Plug and play in OSX, running internal and external Software RAID0s with no problems whatsover.

Works great in SOFT RAID0 or 1 (haven't tried 1+0)

Generally nice controller

It doesn't support my SATA port multiplier - I bought this because it claims it does support port multipliers.
