Sunpak PF30X review

  by (expertreviews.co.uk) - Mär 2010

expertreviews.co.uk

Sunpak's PF30X is available in three versions for different camera brands. We tested the Nikon model, but it's also available for Canon (part code PF30XC) and Sony (PF30XS) cameras. Each model supports the brand's TTL flash metering for automatic...

It’s a little slow and lacks manual control, but this is an affordable option for flash-lit automatic exposures without the rabbit-in-the-headlights effect.

Sunpak PF30x

  by WDC Team (whatdigitalcamera.com) - Aug 2007

Sunpak has long been a professional favourite and this fairly small model has a decent GN of 30m@ISO100, with a 90° tilting head...

Features, ease of use, build

Some fall-off at wideangle, exposure issues

Overall a solid performer with nice features and at a reasonable price.

Other than a really slow recycle time...

  by skeith5 (newegg.com) - Jul 2008

newegg.com

It's not a bad flash for most consumers. The recycle time is a little on the slow side (8-10 seconds) That should be acceptable for most photography. I've heard that if you use higher mAh batteries you can bring the recycle time down a little lower. I...

Much cheaper than a Nikon flash. only takes 2 batteries. Adjustable angle gives you the ability to bounce the flash. Flash exposure adjustment.

only takes 2 batteries. Really slow recycle time.

Not for all Nikons

  by noob (newegg.com) - Mai 2008

Might consider the Nikon SB400 instead, it is supported by my camera.

NewEgg's great shipping and return policy, thanks so much.

Won't work on my new Nikon P5100 camera, even though any other Nikon digital flash appears to. Tested it and very slow 8-10 second recycle time with brand new batteries. I'll pass.

Excellent Product

Excellent Product

I had a full camera kit at one point in time, but had to sell bits and pieces because of the growing family needs. At the end i was left with a D50 which in my opinion is still hell of a camera. The only thing missing was the flashgun...I had used...

No fuss flashgun

Sunpak PF-30X Flash with E-TTL for Canon AF This flashgun was an absolute bargain when I bought it for under £45. There is no setting up to do, just attatch it to your camera and away you go. The photographs I have taken have all been ok. Not too light...

Beware compatibility issues

Beware compatibility issues

Seemed like excellent value, but I tried two and neither would work on my EOS 5D II - there was no problem with them an an EOS 450D, so I guess there is an incompatibility with the latest Canon SLR.

Sunpak Flashgun

Couldn't afford a dedicated canon product, so went for this very reasonably priced gun. Had had one yrs ago so was hopeful it would perform as well. Am very pleased with this gun. Batteries last well, responsive and quick. Not tested it yet in any...

Great value starter flash

Great value starter flash

I got the Sunpak PF-30X for use with my Nikon D40. The flash is a huge leap over the small flash that's built-in on most DSLR cameras. The Sunpak produces very nicely lit photos and has the ability to adjust the flash angle so you can either bounce...

Check Flash is Compatible - BUT SOFTWARE CAN BE UPGRADED

I purchased my PF30X for a Canon 20D in Dec 2008. It worked beautifully and produced excellent results. Having upgraded to a 50D the flash no longer works. However, called Intro 2020 service department on 01628 799902 and they explained how to check...

An excellent but very basic flash unit

An excellent but very basic flash unit

I bought this to use with my Canon Rebel XT (350D) and it performs very well balancing itself with ambient light using the ETTL-II system. I was very pleased with the results both indoors and out. The only drawbacks are 1) slow recycle times - takes at...

Cracking Little Flash

I've been looking for a flash gun for my Canon 400D for ages . For price I paid on Amazon which was half its list , I couldn't resist. I don't often use a flash as I prefer natural light but I wanted something more powerful than the built in pop up...
