Interesting packaging, it was simply sitting there wrapped in bubble-wrap inside the Newegg box, but there is not scratches on it and it works fine.

Simple front panel design with no intrusive logos or white text. Still runs great after months of use

I installed this on my black case and the front panel is actually just a tiny shade lighter than black. Just a heads up for those with OCD

Tray kind of jerks slightly as it ejects the disk. I think it's just a lame tray motor but I can't really take away an egg for it. It's been certainly reading everything I stick in it... Have yet to try to burn anything with this particular unit...

Got this drive as part of a combo deal, so it's hard to complain about the price. It works just fine when I need it, but it's quite loud at full speed, and the tray often comes out slightly sideways, which doesn't inspire confidence about the build...

it's not newegg's fault but the drive is not working well, didn't even get a 50 percent sucessful burn rate. out of 5 verbatim single layer discs, 3 failed. 3 more coasters on my (8.5) dual layer discs out of 4, didn't want to waste anymore blanks....
