Award: Empfehlung der Redaktion!

Ever since the original Slingbox appeared on the scene in 2005, TV junkies have been using it and its various descendants to place-shift television. All Slingboxes to date have offered a compelling combination of a clear picture, easy setup, and no...

HD-compatible. Good video quality. SlingPlayer software is easy to use and works on PCs, Macs, and several cell-phone platforms. Excellent value. No monthly fees

No integrated Wi-Fi. Doesn't actually stream in HD quality in most situations. As with other Slingboxes, anyone at home gets stuck seeing whatever you're watching while on the go. SlingPlayer Mobile costs extra ; Watch the Slingbox SOLO Video Review

Never miss must-see TV with this well-priced, HD-compatible box. As long as you don't expect miracles in video quality when streaming over the Internet, the Slingbox SOLO is a pleasing buy.

Sling Media Slingbox Solo review

  by Rory Reid (cnet.co.uk) - Okt 2007

cnet.co.uk

The Sling Media Slingbox Solo is fantastic. If you're not bothered by the fact it only supports one source at a time, and lacks a TV tuner, the Solo is the best way to control and watch your TV on a laptop or mobile phone

Looks ; Better picture quality than before

Lacks a Freeview tuner ; Supports only one source at a time

Conclusion Users should buy the Slingbox Pro if they want to control multiple sources, but otherwise the £179 Slingbox Solo is the model to get. It delivers better picture quality than the old version, has the added benefit of supporting hi-def...

Sling Media Slingbox Solo

Streams home AV sources to any broadband-connected Mac, Windows PC, Windows Mobile, or Palm Treo device in the world; no host PC or monthly charges required; simple, straightforward setup; excellent, easy-to-use software; pass-through AV jacks...

Cell phone/PDA viewing software costs extra; no built-in wireless networking support; monopolizes the attached device during viewing

An evolutionary upgrade of past Slingbox models, the Slingbox Solo remains an excellent way to stream your home TV programming to an increasingly wide variety of broadband-connected computers and smartphones.

Send TV Where It's Never Been Before

Video typically looks fluid over a home network. Works with most video devices. Passable video quality over the Internet with sufficient upload bandwidth. Universal binary.

Brief delay between sending IR commands and their effect. Occasional video stutters, even on home network.

The Slingbox Solo doesn't change TV as much as the VCR or DVR, but it deserves that comparison. Video quality depends on network and Internet upload speeds, but it's usually strong.

Sling Media Slingbox SOLO

  by Arne Hess (theunwired.net) - Okt 2007

If you plan to use your Slingbox with an external set-top box only (like a satellite receiver or a Microsoft Windows Media Center), the recently launched Slingbox SOLO is the right device for you. Unlike the Slingbox PRO (see our earlier review here)...

Paid Support????

  by dannyolds (cnet.com) - Mai 2011

cnet.com

I can't speak for anybody else, but I would assume most would be concerned that this company only provides free support for 90 days after purchase (after that you pay for it). Sounds an awful lot to me like a product that is either high maintenance,...

Good idea, not sure if it works

Support is pathetic

Notice how all the good reviews are 5 stars?

  by fluffitude (cnet.com) - Apr 2011

Though a wonderful idea, the execution did not carry through. You will notice almost all the positive reviews seem to be written like ads. Must be staff members trying to get the rating up. Please don't waste your money until they can deliver on a...

Great idea Bad execution

I purchased a sling adapter and sling turbo through Dish network and had it "professionally" installed by one of their installers. The device only worked marginally when the guy left. Since then (3 weeks) I have only been able to get it to work...

Amazing but a lil hard to set up

  by gioakjoe (cnet.com) - Apr 2011

This device was a little harder to set up for most people out there and all the negative reviews are from that. If your not the most tech person have your tech freind or family member set this up. Once set up this is the easyest and reliable device...

More revolutionary than TiVo

  by subtlecaffeine (cnet.com) - Feb 2011

cnet.com

When I bought a TiVo back in 2003 I never knew how much it would change the way I watched TV, in fact, I didn't think anything could change how I watch TV....then enters Sling Media's Slingbox to prove me wrong. I won't go in to explaining just what...

Streams your TV over your network, the internet, even over your 3g ; Included IR Blaster to send remote control commands ; Skinned remotes resemble your device's remote ; Built in program guide ; Easy setup ; Watchable in your browser or dedicated client

Video can lag at times ; No built-in wireless, requires available ethernet or expensive adapter ; Desktop video has no processing, looks very rough ; Mobile video framerate limited ; Mobile app costs extra

Incredible Little Box!

  by TonyXVT (cnet.com) - Feb 2011

cnet.com

I have spent the last couple hours playing with the new Slingbox Solo. In comparison to the Slingbox pro I like this new model better. It is about 1/2 the size and does not need an extra dongle for HD video.

Watch TV from just about anywhere there is an internet connection ; Easy Installation ; No subscription fee ; Mobile clients for smart phones (Blackberry, IPhone, Android)

Max resolution of 640x480 which may not look the best on large displays ; 1.5mbit uplink required on broadband connection

Poor customer support = useless product

  by EMacB (cnet.com) - Dez 2010

cnet.com

Should probably go down as the worst customer service / customer support in their industry. Updated on Dec 25, 2010

concept, size

We have had constant problems with our Slingbox Solo, but even if we just had one problem the customer support services would be useless. No replys to email questions, chat requests and no one to answer problem via phone

"Not worth it."

Great Concept

Everytime I leave me home to go abroad, I cross my fingers that the Slingbox will work properly during my time away. Most of the time, it doesn't and unless I have my wife back home to talk to customer service, I won't be able to use it
