If you get it and need to unlock it, search for instructions on how to unlock it on the internet. I recommend searching BEFORE you buy, to make sure you find good instructions.

Works great as a SIP phone extension for Asterisk based open source phone systems IF you unlock the device

If your going to use it for anything other than EARTHLINK, you have to UNLOCK the device. Linksys and EARTHLINK wont help you do this because they want you to have to use it with their service

BE CAREFUL IF YOU TRY TO CHANGE THE DEFAULT ADMIN PASSWORD! I tried this and had to go to linksys to get instructions on how to do a RESET on the device. I recommend just using the admin password you find in the GOOGLE search.

Great SIP device. Connects wonderfully to my Asterisk SIP phone system (I'm using Evolution PBX Asterisk by IntuitiveVoice.com). The device has to be UNLOCKED because it's set to only work with EARTHLINK

You won't be able to use it UNLESS you unlock it from Earthlink. Do a GOOGLE search on "Unlocking the SPA2002-ER". The second link in the list should have everything you need to unlock it

Locked for Earthlink, quick google search will help you unlock it.

Unit works very well.

The unit I got was set up for EarthLink service meaning that the unit is locked the there service so if you are planning on getting this to use with another service I would think twice.
