Interested in using your computer as a TV-capable media center? No problem--but why limit your viewing pleasure to just one PC? The SiliconDust HDHomeRun Prime HDHR3-CC TV tuner product plugs into a home router, so any Windows 7 system (or iPad)...

Records up to three digital HD channels at once ; Shares tuners across a home network ; Works with iPads

Silicon Dust HD HomeRun DVB-T Network Decoder

  by Tone (getfrank.co.nz) - Okt 2009

Since the launch of Freeview digital terrestrial TV in New Zealand, decoders have been appearing on the market with increasing frequency, but they all do the same thing — take a signal from your aerial and feed it to your TV. You might think...

HOMER

  by N/A (newegg.com) - Sep 2011

Nice price drop too.

Excellant reception, dual tuner that can use seperate antennas or 1 antenna that can be split. Great support from Silicon Dust and lot of AVS forum support. Open source with lots of DVR software support and apps. Need I say more

No cable, telco, satelite encrypted tuning. For that you'll need their latest model

Good concept, marginal tuner

  by bartleby (newegg.com) - Mär 2011

Highly recommended for OTA if you have a strong clear signal. But don't assume that just because your existing tuner works then the HDHomeRun will as well.

Integrates easily with MythTV. Network connectivity easier than separate tuner card

For OTA, depending on your location, etc., etc., the tuner may be inadequate ; I have reception issues, possibly multipath, with stations that work just fine with my tv and with a $25 converter box, using same antenna

A must for anyone with windows Vista or Windows 7

Easy to set up. Can work on many computers

Do not like its physical look. Other than that can not think of anything

Excellent product, will buy a few more

Great product, well worth it.

Setup is incredibly easy. Set it up on multiple computers (so far all running Win 7). Download the HDHomerun software off the site, open Media Center...DONE ; I don't try to use it with QAM or any cable provider, just over the air with an outdoor...

I ended up wiring my main TV computers via 100MB network, because even with N wireless it would occasionally stall and if it's my main TV, I don't want that. If you're going to do it wirelessly, I would suggest paying the extra money for a 5gh network...

Better than Sling Box

  by N/A (newegg.com) - Feb 2011

The video quality of this unit is far better than the sling box I owned. The ability to use this hardware with open source (free) software makes this a winner

None so far

Great Product

I can't wait until they come out with the cable card model. Should be able to get rid of some cable boxes then.

Easy to use and setup. Streams Television to any computer in your house. Excellent picture/sound quality. Works great with Windows 7 Media Center. Works great over wireless router

If you have a older laptop or desktop, the HD channels can breakup every once in a while. The SD channels are always crisp and clear

Great Product

  by Zeus (newegg.com) - Feb 2011

Works as designed, use it ongoing with a Media Center on Windows 7. Have had a few instances where shows get garbled due to high CPU on the system, I think that may be as a result of the software/driver doing some interpolation. But other than that has...

Only con I have is that you have to hook up 2 coax lines in to it, that's kind of a dumb design since it should be able to have an internal splitter. Would be 5 rating otherwise

Excellent at what it does

  by iced98lx (newegg.com) - Feb 2011

newegg.com

Very good at what it says it does. Can't wait for a cable card version.

Very good at what it does- 2 HD streams of Clear QAM currently. Love the flexibility of being able to have 1 tuner be clear qam off my cable and 1 tuner be AIR if I wanted to go that way. (We don't have any good off-air channels around here so I just...

Did upgrade my switch to gigabit because I was streaming from the device to my computer and back to the xbox 360 in the living room and was saturating the backplane on the switch, would get jitters and occasional drop outs on the Xbox, but not anymore

No DVR Software

  by out 20 (newegg.com) - Feb 2011

newegg.com

If not for the misinformation it would be a good buy

Hardware works like it should

Newegg says it comes with DVR software "The included DVR software lets you record your favorite shows onto your hard drive so you can watch them whenever you want." It does not. Cost me over 20$ to find out. And newegg will not own up to it

Excellent product

The biggest issue is aligning your antenna into the sweet spot where you can get everything. If you open multiple Config GUI's and set each one to different channels you can try to align your antenna so you get maximum coverage. You may find you have...

Works out of the box. Updated SD's software and firmware smoothly. Hooked it up to my antenna and was surprised to see clear HD local TV. I setup Nero media home and I'm watching HDTV on my PS3. And wirelessly on my laptop if I want to watch from my...

It can take some time fiddling with your network and antenna, because that's what you have to do since there's lots of data being sent over the network with HD broadcasts. You want to make sure it's done right to minimize artifacts and dropouts, so it...
