Seamlessly detected by Windows 7 x64

  by N/A (newegg.com) - Jan 2012

Driverless installation for Windows 7 x64. External eSATA drives no longer randomly disconnect and reconnect as they did when using the motherboard's built-in eSATA port

Does protrude quite a bit, as noted, but this is not really the fault of the device, nor is the insecure latching of ExpressCards, which seems to be an inherent flaw in the standard, not in its implementation

Does Not Disappoint

  by N/A (newegg.com) - Sep 2008

Went with the 54 instead of the 34 hoping that 34 Express Card doesn't become the norm on future laptops. Chose Siig over the cheaper models after doing some research online and decided that quality was the way to go. Other brands may be quality as...

Quality hardware. Easy to setup and use

It's Blue

  by Ryan (newegg.com) - Jul 2008

Left (looking at connectors) connector is right side up, the other is upside down.. so right angles wouldn't work unless they went to the sides or something, or your laptop was elevated...

Works in Linux without a fuss, Search the comments for Gentoo, he covered the bases, Works in Slackware 64 (SLAMD) 12.1 running 2.6.25.9 without issue. Drives detected upon boot, haven't tried hot plugging. Write speed to a single drive was about 87MBs...

The overhang is seriously underestimated. When you factor in "normal" eSATA cables, it sticks out about five inches (I measured) being careful about how close to the connector I bend it. I don't know if they exist, but angled cables would be a good...

Unbelievable Speed!

  by Animaltester (newegg.com) - Mai 2008

I've seen the other reviews stating the card sticks out alot, but do not let it hinder your decision, this card ROCKS!

This card is exactly what I was looking for and exceeded my expectations. I originally wanted a fast interface for my external hard drives to store all of my data for my home network, but I am achieving speeds faster than my internal hard drives. I am...

Just slightly bulky. (Sticks out about and inch.)

Does not work

  by N/A (newegg.com) - Feb 2008

newegg.com

Waste of money- do not buy.

None known- product does not work

DOA! When product is plugged into port, computer recognizes device right away, then asks for drivers. Windows (XP) then searches, finds, and installs drivers, saying "driver installation successful". In control panel, system, the device is listed, as...

It does exactly what it's supposed to

  by YungDedFish (newegg.com) - Jan 2008

Wish there was a card of this quality available with only one port. I have no use for the second.

Great transfer speeds over USB2.0 or even my internal. Easy to install, got the most updated drivers from the Silicon Image site. Stable, never had a connectivity issue at all

Does stick out quite a bit, and eSATA cables generally aren't very flexible, so they will only compound that. And a con of the ExpressCard port itself is that it doesn't hold onto the card very tightly and if bumped it can pop out pretty easily. Since...

Big improvement over USB 2.0 for external drives.

  by theystolemyname (newegg.com) - Jan 2008

You may need to limit your drive to the 1.5 gbps operation mode via jumper for the enclosure to work via esata. This was the case for me using vantec nexstar 3's and seagate 7200.10 drives. Otherwise, the card just will not detect any drives connected.

Works.

Card is gray only, and I have a black laptop.

Easy to use - works with BART-PE

  by Skylane (newegg.com) - Okt 2007

newegg.com

BTW, I'm a BART-PE new user amd not a Guru type. Laptop has an AMD based processor.

Works as advertised with WinXP and Vista Home Premium, if you follow simple directions. From Receipt from Newegg.com to moving files from Vista Premium OS laptop to eSATA drive was 15 minutes total time. Another 20 minutes and I was booting up a...

I went to SIIG website to get latest drivers but only because of personal preference to use the latest drivers, not because of any problems with drivers furnished with unit
