Worthless

  by Steve (newegg.com) - Feb 2011

Other reviewers were right about the flimsy build quality. I tore the piece of junk apart with my bare hands. If you absolutely have to have an ExpressCard with FW ports, buy anything but this.

If you can make it work, it will give you two full-size firewire ports

This card sucks. I had it for about a year, and in that time I was constantly messing with it to make my laptop recognize my external soundcard with it. Often the only way to get it working right was to plug everything in, then power cycle the sound...

Works

  by N/A (newegg.com) - Jan 2011

newegg.com

Overall I'm happy with it and it works.

OHCI reports it functions fine, works just fine with my Focusrite Saffire Pro 24. Lower CPU load and latency compared to an NI audio interface I had running over USB. No complaints

Doesn't fit in my 54mm slot all that well (card is the smaller size). Had to put a piece of cardboard in the slot to keep it from wiggling around

As Advertised

  by N/A (newegg.com) - Jan 2011

Fits firmly into express socket within laptop 54mm slot. TI chipset. Win 7 found and loaded proper drivers. Two nice snug 6-pin connections. Contrary to other reviews body of unit is substantial enough to survive, given realistic expectations of...

Although two 6-pin Firewire connectors there is no power to connected devices - expected. No mention in ad of the ability to input power to adapter. Although most folks may have a pile of various voltage/amperage wall warts laying around, it would be...

Nice addition for my Laptop

If anyone is looking for the User Manual for this Product, You can find it here. http://www.rosewill.com/Mgnt/Uploads2/AttachmentForProduct/UserManual-RC-612.pdf

As everyone has been saying, This works right out of the box. Plug and play was right on it and I had my JVC DV cam recorder up and running with in 5 minutes to backup my Videos... Took me Longer to take the item out of the package. :)

Defiantly have to find an External power adapter for it for my usage but others may not ; It would be nice if Newegg can put up a link to the User Manual on Rosewill's website for this product

Works Perfectly with a Few Minor Build Issues

  by MrTennek (newegg.com) - Aug 2010

newegg.com

An excellent overall product, just be certain to be extra gentle with it when handling.

Works perfectly for what I need it for (ie. capturing / recording hdv video to my laptop); installed and worked without a hitch under 'Windows 7

Very flimsily built (after using it for the first time in my laptop the card itself was actually slightly bent, though it still worked just fine); the whole thing feels as if it would break in half if I were to exert any sort of pressure on it...

Works with PreSonus

  by N/A (newegg.com) - Aug 2010

newegg.com

Fixed compatibility issue with PreSonus FireStudio Mobile. Although this card does not list the exact chipset that PreSonus requires ; When I run the PreSonus OHCITool compatibility checker it comes back as compatible ; Low price ; Fast 3 day ship from...

This is a Newer slim PCMCIA design ; My laptop supports both older style cards and newer cards. The card does not seat securely and can be jostled free if not careful ; I'm in the market now for a small plastic filler for the side of the card that will...

Real TI chipset

  by maajstor (newegg.com) - Jul 2010

newegg.com

"Made in China" ensures it's low price. TI chipset ensures stability for most scenarios.

Finally I found an expresscard IEEE 1394 with TI chipset and price around $30. DV capturing works without flaws ; I have another one with VIA chipset which is totally unreliable - sometimes hangs on capturing, or produces some kind of jerky colorful...

works with my FW DAW

  by -b (newegg.com) - Apr 2010

newegg.com

Thanks, newegg, for another good deal. I've spent plenty a kilobuck here :)

Works great with my Focusrite Saffire PRO 24 DSP in Windows XP SP2 on my Lenovo Thinkpad X200. Saw another review claiming difficulties with a 'real' FW audio interface. Posting to advise it works with mine

Can't hot-swap in my Lenovo Thinkpad X200. Win XP doesn't properly allocate resources and the card is only recognized after a reboot after insertion. Fine with me though, I blame Windows not Rosewill for the problem

Works Great

  by N/A (newegg.com) - Jan 2010

newegg.com

I have a new Toshiba Laptop. (Core 2 Duo 2Ghz P7350, 6 gb DDR 2 ram, ATI VC, 500 gb HD) when I tried to capture HDV with the on board IEEE card the video was distorted and had a lot of artifacts. I tried various software packages and none would capture...

Captures HD video with no problems. Easy to install, no drivers needed in Win 7

Works with my FW Audio interface

  by N/A (newegg.com) - Jan 2010

newegg.com

Its a good card for the price, meets my needs perfectly, and with newegg's fast shipping I had it quickly. Very satisfied with the device.

Drop dead simple to install. Plug it in that's it. I have a Vista 64 machine and it installed perfectly. It found and runs my Alesis FW audio interface with no issues. Using the latest x64 bit drivers from Alesis and latest firmware in the device. I...
