Good card, Rosewill makes good products. Always been pleased whenever I buy them.

Thanks to another reviewer who said that he used this in a Dell Dimension 4600, that prompted me to buy this card for my customer's desktop. It works perfectly, but in some cases you will have to go into your BIOS setup and make sure this is listed at...

Took off one egg because even with blank drives, in order to get the unit operational you have to create the RAID using the long-winded copy process. Took all day for it to finish the process with two 500GB hard drives, so I can imagine if you put in...

blue screen of death

disappointed. I have a Asus P5Q SE/R mmotherboard with E8400 CPU, 8GB RAM. I could not think of any reason why the card would fail. Maybe it has conflict with on board RAID card? But I only used this card for optical drive.

great for SATA optical drives; PCI; easy to install

First boot was fine. Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit recognized as VIA controller and installed device driver. Second boot encountered blue screen of death before Window logon. Considering it's only $10, I will throw it away

bought it because i have linux installed in a ATA HD Drive, connect, used VMWAR3 work5tation, and create a "virtual machine" with the OS running directly from the hard disk... :)

This is great for my NON-ATA port MOBO... got it for $10 2 sata cables, 2 sata power adapters (molex), 1 ATA cable, CD with drivers and FLOPPY DISK... WOW ... i can sell this as a relique for 10 dlls :) JK... Thanks again NEWEGG ; Work out of the box

non so far... hope last for ever

Bought this in order to use SATA HDD with an old Asus board (A7N8X). Ubuntu server 10.04 detected all 4 HDDs (2 IDEs & 2 SATAs) without any problems.

Work great. Work right out of the box

Need to change jumper setting if you need to use the external ports

Didn't work for me

  by Dave (newegg.com) - Dez 2011

Not sure it matters, but this machine is a Dell Dimension 8200, running XP Pro and which is otherwise stable.

It's a good idea

This product simply did not work in my computer. It would appear to install OK but then, it would literally "bring it to its knees" in slowing it down. Literally, it would take 30 seconds for the PC to respond to a mouse click. Rosewill tech support...

If you don't need the external SATA ports, you will have better compatibility with the RC-215

It works well with some SATA Drives

It doesn't even recognize some SATA drives that work well with the Rosewill RC-215 ; ( I have used 6 or 8 RC-215's in the past couple years and find them quite reliable.)

Excellent way to upgrade system

  by DashL (newegg.com) - Mär 2011

I paired this with a WD Velociraptor, thinking I might not see much difference because the card is not SATA II. (I can't use SATA II; the controller card uses a PCI Express slot.) Boy, was I wrong! Everything loads so fast, that it seems like a...

Does what it says it will do ; Comes with all kinds of cables, adapters, software, etc. (2 SATA data cables, 2 SATA power connector adapter cables, an IDE ribbon cable, drivers on CDROM and floppy.)

Can present a learning curve on some machines. I spent several late-night hours trying to get this to work. (Had I only known that Rosewill's tech support was still open!) While the IDE port was flawless, the sata ports seemed to work on and off. My...

Works well!/ Check specs carefully!

A PCI card is not a high bandwidth data connection. The more connected to this... the slower everything will run. If you are looking for speed/performance you need a PCI express or a PCI express x4 connection. A conventional PCI slot limits data...

The controller is cheap, solidly built, and offers a good range of connectivity options for anyone looking to add a hard drive controller or connect older legacy hardware ; I got this for the main purpose of connection older legacy hard discs from time...

As with adding any external controller/additional hardware to a system it will slow down the start up. This type of legacy controller on a newer system will slow down the start up considerably ; My main legitimate complain with this PCI card if the...

It woks like it should

Going to put a small heatsink to cool the controller just for the fun of doing it.

Worked right out of the box without the need to use the drivers on the disk. Performance is slow as people have said ; I am using it with two 1TB Hatchi sata drives with no raid. I have not tested the ide port but over all this is a great raid card if...

Slow and a little overpriced by a few bucks but with gas closing in on $4 a gallon this is nothing ; pci (Duh)

Decent card for the money

  by DeathRoks (newegg.com) - Feb 2011

Overall, a nice product for the price.

Easy setup on EVGA 650i Ultra

Slow performance compared to on board controller. Only getting an average of 73meg's a second read times with two WD 320g IDE 7200 RPM 8meg cache drives in RAID 0
