Peek handheld email device review

  by Mark Harris (pocket-lint.com) - Dez 2008

pocket-lint.com

Everyone has a 3G smartphone, iPhone or netbook these days, right? Wrong. Just 15% of people with a mobile phone currently use email on the move, inspiring US start-up Peek to launch this low-priced messenger for the masses. Costing just $70 (£46) in...

QWERTY keyboard, easy email set-up

No voice communications, lack of document support, price

Overall, the Peek is a nicely "diverged" product. If you just want email and text on the fly, it is a light, efficient and extremely easy alternative to a bulky, expensive smartphone

TwitterPeek review

  by Laura June (engadget.com) - Nov 2009

Peek is a company with ideas -- but they like to tackle them one at a time. Last year, amid snickering and cries of uselessness from the gadget world, the tiny company launched an email-only handheld that's attempted to bring the idea of email on the...

Nice hardware ; Sufficient, comfortable keyboard ; Somewhat reasonably priced

Bad user interface ; Laggy, slow experience ; Only does twitter

Peek Pronto

  by Nicole Lee (cnet.com) - Mär 2009

Last year when we reviewed the Peek, we ragged on it for being an e-mail-only handheld. It just did not seem worth it to us to pay $100 for the device and still have to fork out $20 a month for only e-mail. Still, we liked the design, and its...

The Peek Pronto has a very spacious QWERTY keyboard with soft and tactile keys. It has a really easy user interface, a jog dial, and is slim. It also now offers text messaging, Word and PDF support, and search. The device is affordable and the monthly...

We would've liked to see instant-messaging support, and separate folders for the text messages would've been nice

The Peek Pronto's lower price and addition of text messaging makes this a great affordable alternative for messaging addicts.

Peek Device Delivers Peak Email Performance And Not Muc...

  by Tony Long (wired.com) - Sep 2008

Sometimes, Freud said, a cigar is just a cigar. In an industry that offers an endless supply of tarted-up gadgetry as phallic substitutes for Freud's cigar,

Not much, really, except that the Peek does exactly what it’s meant to do, and does it well. Among my kind, that’s Wired enough. It’s also slim, lightweight and portable, which is nice, albeit somewhat unnecessary since people like myself don't have...

The Peek does e-mail, period, so no matter how efficient it may be, it lacks a lot of stuff that the modern consumer has come to expect from devices of this size and shape. It could also use a stylus to make navigating the tiny keyboard less of a chore

Peek Pronto

If you don't need a phone, but are an email fiend, this is for you.

My Hotmail & Yahoo accounts were easy to set-up! Very easy to read screen & layout. The side scroll button, although old-school, was very functional

Don't let the email messages pile up; the more old messages in your inbox, the slower this thing responds & operates. Customer service is a mess! The text-messaging feature is a bit of a let down

It's a great concept if it were cheaper and 10 years earlier

Customer service isn't great. I bought one and paid the 19.95 activation that isn't listed on the website. The peek work very poorly. I emailed to cancel and they would not refund my 40.00 dollars in fees. stay away from this product
