  by Danny Phillips (trustedreviews.com) - Jul 2009

Banish those VHS tapes once and for all with the freeview-enabled Panasonic DMR-EZ48V recorder.

The DMR-EZ48V is a terrific recording tool that not only makes it incredibly simple to copy VHS tapes onto DVD but also offers top-notch 1080p DVD playback and access to free digital TV channels. The feature list is limited compared with this year's...

Panasonic DMR-EZ48VK

  by Jeff Bakalar (cnet.com) - Feb 2009

Thanks to the rise of Blu-ray, DVD can no longer be considered cutting-edge technology. But with Blu-ray recorders still not a reality--not in North America, anyway--DVD still has the edge when it comes to archiving home video. And because many of...

Outstanding DVD-recording quality, with a best-in-class LP mode; flexible recording speed; chasing playback with DVD-RAM discs; USB port and SDHC card slot for playback of MP3, DivX, and JPEG files; upscales DVD to 1080p; VHS-to-DVD dubbing for home...

VHS operations are a bit slow; expensive; no Blu-ray compatibility

Outstanding recording quality, tons of features, and a built-in digital TV tuner make the Panasonic DMR-EZ48VK an excellent all-purpose DVD and VHS recorder.

The Panasonic DMR-EZ48VK is an easy to use recorder that also has decent picture quality. It is would be ideal for someone who has old VHS tapes and needs to transfer them to DVD without much fuss. It is a solid machine at a reasonable price.

When I first bought this unit, I thought it worked decently. It powered on fast initially. However after about 2 months, the unit takes about a minute to power on --for what reason for this change, I don't know and cannot explain. I tried to reset it...

The unit is very slow to start, though it initially was faster. Hear one cannot record digital antenna TV broadcasts

Plays movies good and records off air great. copies tapes great

absolutely will not record anything off the composite and s video inputs to dvd so recording from tv is definitely out. Only records to vhs from it. So, you have to record to vhs and then copy from vhs to dvd. takes 4 hours for most football games that w

I bought this product to convert my old VHS movie tapes to DVD. My VHS player died and I can't seem to find a new one. So, I thought it was time to get rid of them. I'm not trying to rip off movies. I already purchased the VHS tapes from the store. I...

Un-usable and waste of money. Hate it.

None.Will it does power up

Can't record anything it considers HD quality. Changing TV channels is an obsolete nightmare. First response is to jump to fast forward but it will stay set for a moment but jump back and forth and your never sure which channel it will settle on

Just can't deliver

We need our unit to be a workhorse. We record up to three hours nightly and play back daily. We have bought and returned two of these to Costco after about 6 months, and we have had this one for one year. We are taking this back again, but we don't...

The features and capabilities are desirable, remote easy to use

Frequent freezing up, makes a grunting noise, won't read disks unless pristine, we have to clean every rental disk

I loved the model before failures, but to get it repaired takes much trouble and time. I have now waited two weeks for the paperwork needed to return the last model for repair. The time loss of using this model will be substancial. Panasonic has...

I have owned two of these models and they did everything that i wanted

Both units died very quickly. One died the first week after warranty and the second died five weeks after first powered up. Both were identical failures. The unit would cycle from on to off and back to on continousily.t

Bought this unit wih high expectations to replace broken VCR, based on Pansonic name. Remote requires scrutny to figure out whats what. Found all local stations but when changing channels, screen blanks or freezes, then jumps to new channel or wrong...

Set up was somewhat easy

Digital tuning slow, moving up and down channels, unit would jump to wrong station then correct itself. No electronic program guide I could find. Gave up finding close captioning (I am deaf) button. Too flaky so returned it to store next day

Caveat Emptor!

  by Cats Meow (cnet.com) - Mai 2010

The Panasonic DMR-EZ48VK is so full of bugs that you only have about a 30% chance of it operating the first time, it's so slow to operate and you have to be very patient, it's hard to tell if it's "thinking" or if you have a command error. The...

Great features, but they don't work most of the time

Very buggy, forgets to record programmed events, very slow to activate, locks up and needs constant re-booting, inconsistant operations, difficult owner's manual, too much VHS audio static and jumpy picture
