Does not work with vista 64 bits

  by Mary (newegg.com) - Aug 2010

It's $50 less now than 2 months ago! Great buy.

Surprise, the software does not support vista 64 bits, so I had to connect to an older computer using windows XP to do the install ; But I have to say that install is a breeze, with perfect step by step instructions. Anyone can do it ; Performances on...

All these flashy bright led lights.. Do not install that "christmas tree" in your bedroom.. or you won't sleep anymore! At least you won't need any night light

Excellent Router - Ignore ECPC

  by Stingray (newegg.com) - Jul 2010

newegg.com

Use latest firmware from NETGEAR. This router is excellent on its most current firmware --- and also performed well on previously issued, genuine firmware. Netgear customer support is very good. If you choose to flash your bios to non-genuine firmware,...

Fast - Stable Connection. Easy SETUP. GUI is informative, and allows complete control/monitoring of all essential features of the router

Stay Away

  by ECPC (newegg.com) - Jul 2010

This is my fourth review The Egg keeps removing apparently customer support by a manufacturer is not relevant to the product itself nor honoring a warranty. I've printed the chat so I have the evidence. I had a Linksys WRT54GL, also an Open Source...

Fast when working

Mine keeps cutting out the wired and wireless connection. I have to constantly reset the router. No support from the manufacturer cause they claim is an open source router. Can't even get it replaced for the same reason, open source. So, the router has...

Great Router

  by Mike M INDY (newegg.com) - Jul 2010

I like the dd-wrt that you can install and it make this router more powerful. I deal with Business CISCO Routers alot and for the money this is the one to get.

This router has not dropped any signals. I had a Linksys that dropped a lot of signal. I would highly recommend thsi to all

Really good, save one killer issue

  by NoJokin (newegg.com) - Jul 2010

Even though I am not running open source firmware, it feels like they are using the router's compatibility with open source firmware as a reason not to service it. I even put my old WGR614 v5 router back online, and the DCHPNAK issues disappeared. ...

Lots of great functions, like it overall, except for one total show stopper (see Cons)

Since day 1 every pc gets DHCPNAK's when trying to renew DCHP addresses. Eventually all get renewed, but the denial kills mapped drives, streaming media, ssh sessions, etc. It's running Netgear's firmware (not open source). Netgear's firmware can check...

Great out of the box

  by JoeMerchant (newegg.com) - Jul 2010

I came here looking for any info on the new 1.0.2.50NA firmware upgrade, I have 1.0.2.26NA which the Netgear website says is the newest, but the router is offering me an upgrade to .50 - and references on the web are very slim. If Netgear is monitoring...

Bought to replace my b/g Linksys workhorse which was starting to strain under the load of 10+ connected devices (needing more and more frequent reboots). I had ideas of installing DD-WRT or similar on it, but when it booted and worked so well as a...

I wish the USB port were implemented better - I also had thoughts of using this router to replace my aging QNAP TS-109, but the 109 just kicks this thing's assets as far as NAS functions go

I do not recommend loading any 3rd party firmware especially DD-WRT. You will lose bandwidth. Check out Smallnetbuilder and DD-WRT wiki for more info.

Best router I had so far. Can handle 2 PC's, 1 iTouch, 1 Xbox 360, 1 PS3 and 1 NetTALK tk6000 with no issues whatsoever

Unbeliveably easy to set up

  by paratwa (newegg.com) - Jul 2010

Other than the cable I had no other problems. Netgear did a great job with this router.

Easy set up and blazing fast speeds. This is the first wifi enabled router I have ever set up. I have worked with wired routers many times, and I know how hard they can be to set up. I just inserted the disk, upgraded the firmware, and completed some...

The supplied network cable was trashed out of the box. Netgear folds them up so bad it ruined it. I had a spare cable laying around and used it instead
