Its server software, that replaces a NAS or library of externals HDDs. The connecter software works like a charm (granted you keep your time/date up to date). There are plenty of unique features that you can add in via third party providers

Please research drivers for hardware you plan on installing this OS on, they are far and few

During one of the tests, I found some modern video cards and other hardware that wasn't compatible out of the box. Check compatibility of any high end or special hardware that might cause issues

Using this machine to back-up our other machines and store all of our digital media. and both machines. I have installed a second drive to back the back-ups to for offsite storage.

It won't support 3TB HDD, but then again, we now know that V2 (Vail) which is about to come out also will not. It is spendier then some nas products, but durability is very good

Makes managing backups simple and painless, distributes the data automatically between multiple drives so one failing doesn't wipe you out. Easy to setup, easy to add drives. Will run on just about anything

Won't let you add a drive that already has data on it into the storage pool without formatting it. It can be on the server but not in the pool. Documentation says you can't hook it up wirelessly. Didn't test whether this is true or not but it did play...
