Acceptable speeds now

  by Martin (newegg.com) - Nov 2010

newegg.com

I remember going through this when usb 2.0 first came out.

Gives laptops USB3.0 speed ; Making system image speed is acceptable now ; My AgilityII-60GB SSD, XP, 17GB used, now completes Acronis backup in 8 minutes instead of the approx 30 minutes backup to usb 2.0 external Seagate 500MB passport drive ; Other...

Same problem as other usb3.0, ie, needs awkward external power cable for my Toshiba Canvio 3.0 drive. W/o that power cable, the OS just sees an external usb drive but no drive letter, and claims that the drive needs to be initialized ; With the power...

So far so good

I also bought a WD MyBook 3.0 terabyte drive to complement this technology. It works several times faster than my old usb 2.0 Seagate 3.5' drive. If you move or backup a lot of data, this is the way to go. I also have an OCZ 64GB drive I use as an...

This product has worked well with my HP dv8t system's express card slot. I've had no issue using it. The driver for it loaded without issue on my win7 64bit system. As far a performance, I don't have any stats except to say that I copied over a...

Speeds Not As Advertised

  by N/A (newegg.com) - Okt 2010

newegg.com

I have this connected to a StarTech USB 3.0 Enclosure, with a SATA II connection to a 1Tb 32mb cache harddrive. I'm unsure if this reduced speed is caused by the hard drive in my notebook, even though it is a 7200rpm 16mb cache drive.

Relatively small size, has 2 ports. Has an average transfer rate higher than USB 2.0

Without the provided power cable plugged in, the transfer speeds won't go any faster than USB 2.0. With it plugged in, the speeds will only get about 2.5x faster. Around 65-70Mb/s tops ; No real drivers to install. Provided cd is hardly enough

Good Card

It works..

Slapped in my Lenovo T400 and it worked with no problems after loading the driver from the included disk. Upgraded my system from Windows XP 32-bit to Windows 7 64-bit and it still worked. Ran HDTune and the attached hard drive is 10Mbps faster than...

Was fine when it worked -

  by darksim905 (newegg.com) - Sep 2010

Rather than paying the restocking fee and bothering with returning this item and getting ... the same item ... I will look elsewhere. Three stars because the build quality is pretty good. Took one away because of the drivers, and one away because of...

Worked great and detected my external drive first time I used it. Good build quality

Gap/spacing around USB ports is really tight. Really have to shove USB devices in there to get them to fit. This is bad for your devices ; Drivers. ExpressCards and all these other sorts of devices should have better quality drivers that come with...

It works No issues

  by Y2kmistere (newegg.com) - Aug 2010

Works as promised. Not expensive. Totally Recommend

Not a problem installing into vista on a HP DV7t-1000. Works fine drivers loaded no issues with 46Mb/s with WD BLUE 1TB transferring 350GB worth of files. Came with secondary USB cable for extra power requirements...some don't have this

Needs second USB for power...nature of the beast due to USB3 specs....very tight connectors had to really shove the cable in and since its a spring loaded slot had to take card out to install cable. Not an issue just an observation

Great Product

No Apple support.

Installation was easy. Ive had trouble installing PCMCIA, Express, etc. devices before, but this product installation was a breeze. Windows 7 picks it up right away and it works flawlessly. It brings a USB power cable that you can plug into a USB port...

Sticks out too far. Im sure there will be lower-profile products available in the coming months. If thats a concern, you should wait. LED is too bright. Electrical tape will fix that. A lot of force must be used to plug something in to this device. Im...

Don't know, it doesn't work with mac

I called tech support and they told me that it was a miss label on the packaging and that there are no plans to make the device mac compatible in the future

Not Compatible with MAC OSX

  by eddypuck (newegg.com) - Mär 2010

newegg.com

The product works as expected on a PC. I only gave it 4 stars due to the descrepancy in the OS support claims.

Works fine with PC

Despite being advertised as compatible with OSX, it is not. Confirmed with Manufacturer that OSX is not supported at this time
