Kingston DataTraveler Ultimate 3.0 thumbdrive (64GB)

  by Andrew Harrison (goodgearguide.com.au) - Jan 2011

goodgearguide.com.au

The Kingston DataTraveler Ultimate 3.0 is a chunky USB 3.0 thumbdrive with a good turn of speed and capacity up to 64GB

Significantly faster than USB 2.0 flash drives

A little on the chunky side, doesn't realise the full potential of USB 3.0

Compared to USB 2.0 flash drives, the Kingston DT Ultimate 3.0 64GB is a fast storage device -- well over twice the speed of the best that USB 2.0 has to offer, in fact. This speed is particularly welcome for the larger capacity thumb drives that are...

Kingston Datatraveler Ultimate 3.0 review

  by (expertreviews.co.uk) - Okt 2010

The DataTraveler Ultimate 3.0 is first memory stick we've seen with USB3 support. It's obvious that USB3 would make the Ultimate 3.0 faster than most flash drives, but we were still impressed by its performance. Large files were written at 46MB/s and...

Super-fast, pocket-sized storage, as long as you have the hardware to support it.

Kingston DataTraveler Ultimate 3.0 Generation 2

  by (pcmag.com)

The Kingston DataTraveler Ultimate 3.0 Generation 2 (32GB, $80 street) represents the latest incarnation of the humble flash drive, but it ramps up the possibilities with 32GB of space, a fast USB 3.0 connection, and a chunky plastic enclosure...

Fast USB 3.0 performance. 32GB capacity. Chunky design should weather bumps and spills easily

Pricey. Bulky design will crowd surrounding ports. Runs hot. Easy to lose cap

The Kingston DataTraveler Ultimate 3.0 G2 (32GB) is a whole lot of storage, with speedy USB 3.0 connectivity and a sturdy design.

Kingston DataTraveler Ultimate 3.0 (32GB)

  by Craig Simms (zdnet.com.au) - Sep 2011

It's great to have the speed of USB 3.0, but the DataTraveler Ultimate 3.0 is just too chunky to wholeheartedly recommend.

USB 3.0 gives a decent speed boost

Huge footprint could make squeezing it in next to other USB peripherals difficult

Kingston DataTraveler Ultimate 3.0

USB 3.0 flash drive

At $125 for the 32GB version I tested, it is roughly twice the price of a decent 32GB USB 2.0 flash drive. It is also about twice the thickness of a standard flash drive, but at over double the write speed and triple the read speed, I can still see it...

Comes in high capacities from 16GB to 64GB ; Great transfer rates compared to USB 2.0 ; High performance allows more uses than just storage ; A good looking drive

Early adopter premium pricing

The latest Crystal Disk Mark was used to give us Sequential, 512K, and 4K data block transfer rates from both flash drives. I finished up with a timed data transfer exercise where a 1.92GB folder filed with 5MP photos and product videos was transferred...

Works well

  by N/A (newegg.com) - Jan 2011

It does work without the Y cable on my USB 2.0 ports, but all of mine are higher output ports designed to handle iphone, ipad, etc. YMMV.

Big, fast

Expensive, large enough to block adjacent USB ports

Bought it because of the backward compatibility and high speed. Did not expect to have tho use a Y-cable. This fact should be included in the product description so people don't dish out a lot of money only to be bummed out when they receive the...

High capacity. Probably fast

Expensive. Also, buyer beware. This item is advertised as backward compatible with USB 2.0. What they don't tell you is you have to use a two port y-cable if you want to use this device with USB 2.0. You cannot plug this flash drive into a USB 2.0 port...
