Working in a Dell Server w/Win 2003

  by Randy (newegg.com) - Aug 2011

I have another SiI 3124 based card in another system, it's a Norco 4618 four port eSATA. It lives in an Apple Xserve and connects to a four disk rack mount enclosure and works well. That card has vanished from newegg and other vendors, and now you pay...

I got this card to go in a 2002 vintage Dell Poweredge 1400SC tower server to run a pair of 2TB disks. I put in the card and Win Update found a driver to install. The disks worked as two separate disks, so I went to Disk Management and formatted 'em...

Not a one I can see. It does say Silicon Image 3124 RAID or something like that in Device Manager, but it works how I want, i.e. two disks with different letters show up as drives on the system

Orphans

  by Storm (newegg.com) - Aug 2010

I am running it on a rather antiquated HP G3 server, but our other raid arrays seem fine even when under similar load. it is running on its own PCI-X channel and seems to be able to handle one SSD fine. Oddly, while the benchmark runs, the random...

Cheap PCI-X solution

Keeps orphaning drives. I have 4x Intel 40g SSDs and in any configuration(Raid 0,10,5) it likes to orphan drives as soon as any load is put on the array such as benchmarking(Crystalmark,ATTO,etc.) or large file transfers. Before crashing, the...

Not that great

Adds SATA ports, which is exactly what I got it for. Never tried the RAID on it. I was running video and music off the drives hooked to it and they all ran just as smooth as they would as if they were hooked to my board

After less than 6 months, one of the connectors broke off. Another port stopped reading

good buy

Haven't tried RAID. It's not a hardware RAID card though, so there'd really be no point. Better to just use it as a SATA controller and let Linux take care of the RAID.

Works perfectly. Arch Linux running on an old Dell PowerEdge 2400. Performance is quite reasonable, and very good for the price

Does not Support 3.3v

  by N/A (newegg.com) - Mai 2010

newegg.com

I needed a SATAII controller card to revive my old Precision 450 workstation. I purchased this card because it was suppose to work with 3.3v PCI-X interface, according to the manufactures website. Sadly the card was identical to the card I purchased a...

Would work if my board supported 5v PIC-X

Will work in a 32-bit 5v PCI slot but will only achieve 133MB/s transfer speeds

decent card, great value

  by N/A (newegg.com) - Apr 2010

On this card I get ~70 MB(big B)/ sec to the drive. Tested with the following command: dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sdc =1M count=30000 31457280000 bytes (31 GB) copied, 454.551 s, 69.2 MB/s The same test to the same drive, using the onboard SATA controller...

Card shows markable performance increase over on-board SATA device ; Great Linux support for JBOD modes ; RAID modes not tested

I'm pretty sure that this is a fakeraid device, so if I'm doing raid, I like the linux software raid a lot better than the proprietary drivers

Great product.

The only thing that I would change about this product would be to add an eSATA port. Other than that, it's perfect.

I installed this card in to a Dell Precision 670 workstation that I am using as a HTPC because I ran out of on-board SATA ports. I have no need for a RAID array. The card dropped in perfectly, installed with little effort, and runs both 2TB drives that...

Allowed me to make 2 raid 1's in an old socket 604 server and use SATA II to do it. I am not sure why people have complained about this board. it does what it says it does and the process speeds of the hard drives are fine. the board seems stable and i...

I guess some people just like to gripe. I'm happy so no cons here
