Totable iPod Mic Soaks Up Audio, Won't Play With ...

  by Michael S. Lasky (wired.com) - Dez 2010

wired.com

The built in sound recorder on your iDevice sucks. How about upgrading to something that soaks up rich, vibrant audio?

Pocket-size microphone makes full-dimension stereo recording on the go. No batteries required. Three sensitivity settings adjust audio gain in loud and quiet environments

Does not work with iPhone 4, iPad, 6th-gen Nano or 4th-gen iTouch. Because multifunction app works only on iTouch and iPhone, the Nano and iPod Classic can only use Mikey with their mono voice-memo function

Blue Microphones Mikey review

  by Donald Bell (cnet.co.uk) - Aug 2009

cnet.co.uk

For capturing pristine, realistic stereo audio to your iPod, the Blue Microphones Mikey offers the best bang for your buck. It could do with some more features, though

Captures unrivalled stereo sound for the price ; Attractive, hinged design

Doesn't offer line-input, direct monitoring or pass-through USB ; Gain switch is difficult to manipulate

Blue Microphones rates the total recording time of the Mikey at around 1.5 hours, which is slightly better than average, but not as long as you'd get with a standalone audio recorder

Blue Microphones Mikey

  by Christopher Breen (macworld.com.au) - Jul 2011

44.1kHz/16-bit audio at a frequency response of 35Hz to 20kHz and can be angled to seven different positions.

Hard to overdrive; line input and USB charging jacks

Gain levels a little low

The Mikey turns your iPod or iPhone into a serviceable recorder (although quiet on the low and medium settings). It’s good value for those who need a mic for occasional use; those who need a field recorder on a routine basis should look at a dedicated...

Review: Blue Microphone's Mikey iPod Microphone

  by Joel McLaughlin (geardiary.com) - Dez 2009

geardiary.com

I have tried at least 2 different iPod recording solutions since the invention of the dock connector.  The first one was the Belkin Tune Talk.  I loved it and it allowed me to record a podcast away from my computer.  Well it met an untimely demise in a...

Review: Blue Microphones Mikey

Blue Microphones makes a simple but very effective iPod mic.

Great quality recording ; Excellent price for the features ; Three gain levels

Connector slightly loose when docked ; Small gain selector switch ; Speaker strictly adequate for the job

With audio recording finally moving down into the home after years of being largely confined to studios, Blue Microphones has decided to follow suit by launching one of its first sub-$100 dedicated audio devices. But can piggybacking on an iPod prov

Works great but not on iphone 4 or ipad

Great mic. I used it all the time with the Fire app on my iPhone 3G. Sadly it does not work on my iphone 4 or ipad. It's not Blue's fault rather its how Apple makes the iphone 4. Bummer.

Great little microphone, very sensitive

Great little microphone, very sensitive

I wanted something to use in meetings, or to pick up ambient sound at places I was photographing or videoing so I could use as a background. Also, it had to be small and unobtrusive. The Mikey works well - but be aware that the classic iPod has a hard...

Great Mic.

Great Mic.

I have used this for recording acoustic guitar and vocal. It handled acoustic guitar particularly well, not boomy or boxy but with a nice mellow tone. Also the quiet moments are reproduced without hiss. I also recorded a band in a small venue and I...

super little voice recorder

I used to use a Micromemo for recording my voice for work. However, when I upgraded my iPod I discovered to my disgruntlement that the Micromemo is not supported by the newer iPod ("Extra pins" they told me in the apple shop). Mikey was the only...

A good basic stereo mike for the ipod touch

A good basic stereo mike for the ipod touch

It doesn't quite compare with 2 dedicated phantom powered mikes in my home studio but it does a reasonable capture of of a classical guitar and lute. I would suggest using the paid app 'Fire' for recording as it seems well supported and more stable...

fantastic

Amazing quality for such a small mic. Perfect for recording on the go. Doesn't drain battery in any inconvenient way. THe speaker is very quiet but allows you to review what you have recorded to make sure you have something there. It's just great.

I record oral histories for museum and archive collections, and I purchased this microphone because it makes the iPod an extremely versatile product. I didn't want extraneous devices to pack around, and with the Mikey the iPod is small, compact, and is...

Poor Job on Blue Microphone

It would not increase the volume no matter what I tried, I got so frustrated that I returned it. Sorry. This was holding the mic up to the face, nearly touching the lips. I wanted to use it for recording my songs on the piano, that was hopeless. It is...
