Nice sized drive appropriate for use in laptop setting where slipping in a burner isn't an option. Works well no extra power cables (two usb ports though)

Took mine apart to put in my laptop. The drive is a Sony Optiarc. Great drive swapped it with my laptop drive and now I have a great blu ray burner in my laptop and an external DVD burner for portability. I'm sure I voided my warranty but oh well...

Does not recognize quantum optical discs at all. Wont burn blank or read burned quantum optical discs. burned ridata and memorex discs fine

Would have done 3.5 eggs if possible. The casing feels a little flimsy, trying to push the tray back in sometimes the top part will bend down and stop it. Just be careful when handling it. Push the tray back in from the sides or with two hands.

I have been using this drive for about a month and was quite surprised. Works flawlessly. I needed to burn some blurays and this fit the need.

Why do folks expect to get viable software with everthing? There are a lot of choices avaiable out there. Search and learn! You probable woulden't be happy with what they might send you anyway.
