Billion BiPAC 7800N review

  by (expertreviews.co.uk) - Jun 2010

expertreviews.co.uk

We've reviewed PCs smaller than this router, but this chunky grey box does plenty to justify its size and price. Billion's reputation for stability and consistent uptimes has served it well in the SME market, which makes this router attractive to...

The BiPAC 7800N is expensive but its wealth of security features and dual Ethernet and ADSL WAN ports make it a good choice for home and small office users, even without load balancing.

Billion BiPAC 7800NL

IPv6 support ; Good short- to mid-range wireless performance ; Good features for the price

Long range performance could be better ; Web UI could scare off networking newbies

The 7800NL is a great bargain modem/router. If you don't care about gigabit Ethernet and can't justify the dollars to upgrade to the higher level 7800N, or even if you just want to mess with IPv6, the 7800NL could be for you.

Dual-WAN approach, Great signal strength

Complex web interface, Ugly router design, 2.4GHz only, Poor throughput

Billion's 802.11n modem/router provides good signal but loses the message somewhere along the way.

I like the specs from what I've seen, I've been looking for a modem and this modem has been given glowing reviews and I think this is the one I will get.

I think this review needs updating or tests need to be redone as I'm getting around 7-8MB/s (56-60Mb/s) file transfer speeds over wireless with this router! Perhaps you had a bad/faulty unit, firmware issue or your testing was flawed in some way

Just works

I have found this modem to be an excellent unit - it maybe a little ugly to some but who cares really? Its not a television or computer monitor that you stare at for a number of hours a day!!!
